"Crawling"

Uncle Keith was determined to get him to crawl...guess he had the touch or that ball was a fascinating toy! This is the most Caedmon has moved forward. And I think he's only done it once since. It's still just easier to roll.
By the way, if you can listen to it on mute, do so! I don't realize how high pitched I talk to Caedmon 'til I hear my voice in a video. Whoa! :/

The Lazy Way

'Why try something new when I can just roll over and get what I want?'

10 Months Old!!!

Again I'm asking, where does time go?! I'm actually starting to think about 1 year old birthday parties! Yikes!

I got on a scale about a week ago:( so we could get an estimate on Caedmon's weight (weighed myself, then me and him together...figured out the difference...). Doctor told us at 6 months that he was a healthy boy and we didn't need to come back till he's a year, so he hasn't been weighed in a while! We estimated that he's around 28 lbs! I can't get a good measure of him either, but he's somewhere around 32 -33 inches long. It's kind of humorous to see this rather large boy still only rolling around to get from here to there.

His tongue rarely stays inside his mouth these days!

He actually stayed up for quite awhile! (I put him there.) Check out the feet! :)

Our Trip to Ohio

Yes, against my husband's better judgment, I made the trip south and crossed that ominous border into Ohio country. Heehee! :)
My friend had a wedding in Columbus, where my aunt and uncle live. Yay!! I drove the whole way down, since my friend worked third shift the night before - she was supposed to be sleeping, but we pretty much talked the whole time!:)
Caedmon and I had the most wonderful time! He did an amazing job around so many new people and in a new place!
My Grandpa drove the couple hours over to see us and meet Caedmon for the first time. It was so great to see him!
My aunt was sympathetic to keeping Caedmon on his schedule, so although she felt bad, we didn't do much outside of sticking around the house and visiting. Which was just fine with me - I would have loved to have gone to the zoo, but Caedmon without a nap is not a pretty sight! It was just nice to catch up and reminisce. She and I did get out once by ourselves, and once with Miss Brooke, while Grandpa babysat (Caedmon was sleeping both times).
Here are some fun pics from our visit - Enjoy!:)

Grandpa and Caedmon hit it right off!

The cousins (second cousins) and Grandpa

After checking out Uncle Keith's peach trees, we hung out in the back yard for a little bit

Caedmon's favorite thing to do these days - mind you, he's not even crawling yet

Here's Grandpa making a fort and Caedmon taking it down:)

Brookie managed to go through the fort a few times before Caedmon got ahold of the blankets again

Grandpa, with his second grandchild and first great grandchild:)

The dogs were more interesting than the camera

Brookie had fun pulling Caedmon around the living room and he didn't seem to mind too much:) (he's not quite ready for the wheel barrel)

Fun with bubbles!

Thank you so much for opening your home and your hearts to us this past weekend!

We love you!

"The Mom Song" Lyrics

And for those hard to understand lyrics, here you go!

"The Mom Song"
Get up now
Get up now
Get up out of bed
Wash your face
Brush your teeth
Comb your sleepyhead
Here's your clothes and your shoes
Hear the words I said Get up now!
Get up and make your bed
Are you hot?
Are you cold?
Are you wearing that?
Where's your books and your lunch and your homework at?
Grab your coat and gloves and your scarf and hat
Don't forget!
You gotta feed the cat
Eat your breakfast, the experts tell us it's the most important meal of all
Take your vitamins so you will grow up one day to be big and tall
Please remember the orthodontist will be seeing you at 3 today
Don't forget your piano lesson is this afternoon so you must play
Don't shovel
Chew slowly
But hurry
The bus is here
Be careful
Come back here
Did you wash behind your ears?
Play outside, don't play rough, will you just play fair?
Be polite, make a friend, don't forget to share
Work it out, wait your turn, never take a dare Get along!
Don't make me come down there
Clean your room, fold your clothes, put your stuff away
Make your bed, do it now, do we have all day?
Were you born in a barn?
Would you like some hay?
Can you even hear a word I say?
Answer the phone!
Get off the phone!
Don't sit so close, turn it down, no texting at the table
No more computer time tonight!
Your iPod's my iPod if you don't listen up
Where are you going and with whom and what time do you think you're coming home?
Saying thank you, please, excuse me makes you welcome everywhere you roam
You'll appreciate my wisdom someday when you're older and you're grown
Can't wait till you have a couple little children of your own
You'll thank me for the counsel I gave you so willingly
But right now I thank you not to roll your eyes at me
Close your mouth when you chew, would appreciate
Take a bite maybe two of the stuff you hate
Use your fork, do not burp or I'll set you straight
Eat the food I put upon your plate
Get an A, get the door, don't get smart with me
Get a grip, get in here, I'll count to three
Get a job, get a life, get a PHD
Get a dose of, "I don't care who started it! You're grounded until you're 36"
Get your story straight and tell the truth for once, for heaven's sake
And if all your friends jumped off a cliff would you jump, too?
If I've said it once, I've said at least a thousand times before
That you're too old to act this way
It must be your father's DNA
Look at me when I am talking
Stand up straighter when you walk
A place for everything and everything must be in place
Stop crying or I'll give you something real to cry about
Oh! Brush your teeth, wash your face, put your PJs on
Get in bed, get a hug, say a prayer with mom
Don't forget, I love you
And tomorrow we will do this all again because a mom's work never ends
You don't need the reason why
Because, because, because, because
I said so, I said so, I said so, I said so
I'm the mom, the mom, the mom, the mom, the mom!!
Ta da!!!

"The Mom Song"

I don't get into YouTube videos, and rarely watch them on other people's blogs, but this is a MUST see for you moms out there! :) It's hilarious, and all too true! Enjoy!

Hot Night!

A Visit to the Beach

I called up a friend and we went for a walk along the pier. Caedmon's been in a pool, but today was a first for the lake. He loves water and had a blast walking into the waves! It's so much fun to experience things through children!
A friend of mine enjoys feet pics, so I decided to take a feet picture as well.:)
I think Caedmon's feet are adorable; well, baby feet in general!:)
We did not stay dry!

A Job for Corey:)

I put Caedmon to bed today, but put some clothes away before I left his room. He discovered he could see me over the crib bar and we proceeded to play peek-a-boo. I realized it's about time to lower the bed of the crib. It might be crazy that we haven't done it yet, but he's still not crawling or pulling himself up or anything like that. He rolls and scooches a little. I'm not complaining! I'm starting to think about child-proofing, but he's not quick yet!:)

Success!:)

I'm kind of a clean freak. My husband calls it OCD, but since I married him, I've lightened up, and since Caedmon arrived...well, my house is not as clean as it once was. Still, as I thought about my future in motherhood, I prayed I'd be able to let my children be children - have fun making messes without mommy freaking out, or not allowing it at all. As I took these pictures today, I decided I've succeeded...or my prayers were answered!:) Caedmon was definitely NOT clean after a lunch of muffin, avacado, and tofu. I think he enjoyed squeezing the stuff in his hand and between his fingers more than putting it in his mouth!

Moving Update

We are still trying to sell our house down state. In the mean time, we're going to rent it out to some friends.
Last week, we spent the week looking at houses and deciding on one. We called our realtor up there Friday morning and told him we were ready to make an offer on a house. We are eligable for another mortgage because Corey works so far away from where he lives. It also helps that we don't have a lot of (monthly) debt.
We set up a time to go sign papers, and shortly after getting off the phone, our realtor calls back and says a house just came up on the MLS that morning that we need to take a look at.
To make a long story short, the house we looked at that morning for the first time is the house we ended up making an offer on. God works in funny ways! It's a forclosure, so a great deal! So similar to our house it's crazy, but a lot newer(built in '94 and remodeling done last year) with a full basement that was in the process of being finished.
There's still a few loose ends, but I'm hoping God will figure those out and we'll be able to get moved up there soon! It's rather difficult to serve a community when you live 2 1/2 hours away!

A Week Up North

Last week was long, but fun and rewarding! Caedmon and I went up north with Corey for the week. We had a missions team from Alabama coming for the week and doing VBS for our church and I was involved with VBS.

We left our house Sunday morning (July 6) early so as to make it to church up north by 11a.m. We spent the week living out of two places - some friends of ours graciously opened their house to us yet again, and the church basement was our second home for the week. It was crazy living out of two places, neither one being home. Caedmon did well for the most part. About halfway through the week, he became weary of 15 different people who were NOT mom and dad wanting to hold him and get his attention. He was well loved that's for sure!:)

We had a max of 4 children show up for VBS; 0 the first day. I suppose in our standards, we were unsuccessful, but our standards are not God's. In advertising VBS, word got out across the whole town that our church is starting back up again and ready to serve the community. And I believe those children that came are the families God wants us to touch. We had a great time with them, and they received lots of attention!

Friday ended with a block party, which included a huge blow up slide, popcorn, sno cones, and cotton candy, free to all! We probably had about 30 kids at this event. Again, small, but numbers aren't so important as loving well those that cross our path! We cleaned up and headed back down state, getting home around 11:30p.m. What a whirlwind of a week!

I'm excited to get moved up there and begin serving the community in whatever way God has for me!

Improvising, since I'd forgotten his high chair at the church the night before.

Mommy having fun taking pictures while waiting for Dada to pick us up.:)

Taking a break from the slide to watch puppets and dramas.

Kid at heart.:)

Fourth Festivities

We had a nice Fourth, even though we just stayed home. We attempted a family photo shoot in the a.m. Put the camera on timer - you know how it goes...run to get in the picture, etc. The misquitoes were nasty so we didn't get the perfect picture - oh well. Attempted a photo shoot with just Caedmon inside, but again, lighting wasn't good, etc. Blurry or not though, he sure is cute!:)

A friend came over, we threw some chicken on the grill, played with sparklers to give Caedmon somewhat of a 4th of July exerience (since we didn't even consider the fireworks - it's one thing to keep a baby out till 10p.m.; it's a whole other ballgame to go to something that doesn't start till 10p.m.! We would have had one crabby boy on our hands!), and then put him to bed.

The three of us played bocce ball. I'm a gamer, so I had a lot of fun...and not only because I won both games either!:)

We topped off the evening with dessert and a movie. After moaning the blues that morning because I thought we weren't going to do anything, we had quite a nice day! Thanks Ben for hanging out with us!:)

9 Months Old!

Truly, where does time go?! Corey told me the other day that Caedmon has been outside of the womb almost longer than he was inside! He's been an absolutely wonderful addition to our family. We love him to pieces!
O.k. At 9 months:
- rolling (still content at times to stay in one place)
- scooching somewhat - getting closer and closer to crawling - doing a lot of reaching, stretching his body to the max and trying with one arm and then the other to try and get something
- sitting up on his own - has great balance and only falls over once in awhile
- picking up food and getting it into his mouth
- 8 teeth (last two on the bottom came in the weekend of June 14th or thereabouts)
- says "mamamama"- has been making these sounds for a long time now, but never just "mama" and never on command - if asked to say "mama," he usually says "dada":/
- says "dada" A LOT! Started making the sounds clearing right before Father's Day:) Now he often repeats "dada" after we say it
- takes steps when holding on to someone; he's been doing this for a few months
- he's found his voice and he loves to scream; either because he's excited or mad or just trying to get attention. This is lots of fun in public places!:/

Hope I captured all of the big stuff and some of the little!

Caedmon, you are the best! Dada and Mama love you so very very much. We are having so much fun getting to know you and watch your personality blossom. We look forward to many fun years ahead!

Simply Adorable!

I'm A Big Boy Now!

I believe it was last Wednesday, June 25th, that Caedmon finally got a Cheerio into his mouth all by himself! So Thursday, for breakfast, I threw a few onto his tray and he gobbled them right up. This has become our routine for breakfast now, along with sliced banana, avacado, or a cooked carrot or two. I've decided to try different foods and some of the same in different form, but only food that I can put on his tray and he can eat by himself. Thought I'd see how he would eat if he could do it himself as well as make the decision of what goes into his mouth and what doesn't. I don't know how much better we're doing. It's hard for me to be patient when I want him to get the healthy nutrients from veggies and fruits. So far, we just really like the Cheerios and graham crackers. So much for my health food ambitions! Everytime I go to the farmer's market, I want to cry over all the new veggies I was going to puree and try with him!

Dada's Boy

So much for having a mama's boy! Caedmon loves his dada! If I'm holding him and Corey is near by, Caedmon reaches for him. Sometimes, if I try to take him from Corey, he doesn't want to come. It makes me a little bit sad at times, but mostly I love to watch this wonderful connection between father and son! A connection that I hope will only grow as he gets older!

Here are a few pics of my boys hangin' out.
